King Khalid National Achievement Award
This Award was won by the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, for his great achievements in the field of promoting higher education standards to achieve global leading leadership for Saudis in a short period of time. These achievements included the following:
- The establishment of universities in all Kingdom regions, so the number of universities in the Kingdom increased from (8 universities) to (25 universities), including King Abdullah University for Science and Technology, Princess Noora Bint Abdul Rahman University, and King Saud University for Health Sciences at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh.
- Launch of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques program for external scholarships.
- Establishment of the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Translation Award, and the research institutes and chairs in specialized fields, while supporting the nano-technology program at the Kingdom's universities.
- Issuance of a Royal Decree to pay a number of awards and allowances to Saudi Universities’ teaching staff, and to honor patent holders and award them the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence, first and excellent grades.
