Initiative Description:

  • The Ahdan initiative is a permanent voluntary group targeting orphan children (of unknown lineage) living in social welfare homes. It was so named because it aims at fostering the child physically and psychologically in order to satisfy him emotionally and prevent social ostracism so as to make him feel accepted by the community. The initiative performs this mission through weekly visits where the members of the group make friendly visits and open dialogues and conversations with the children or read some stories with some light mental exercises. This voluntary initiative is distinguished for its contribution to the children psychotherapy and the achievement of social, educational and learning goals, including the following: Treatment of depression, anxiety, stress, mental illness and emotional disorders felt by this group through hugging and touching (a scientific treatment that’s been proven by specialized studies and researches). To optimize the level of hope for community’s acceptance of the children and enable the achievement of their self-satisfaction, while reducing the ratio of violence and rebellion at the same time. To instill reading culture in children by implementing reading activities in the weekly visits. The positive effect of this exercise was reflected in the children’s request for more stories and books. In addition, the initiative casts light on this category of children so as to stimulate the institutions concerned, such as the Ministry of Social Affairs and Education and Youth Welfare. Etc., to play their role in fostering this category of children from psychological, educational and behavioral perspectives. To formulate a perfect personality of this group members and promote their association and belonging to the community and the homeland through the fostering of child and eliminating his feeling of ostracism by the community. To integrate this group of children into the community so as to enable them to participate in the normal life as active and productive members of equal rights and duties at schools, universities and work; to make this category of children acceptable by the community as equal members in the rights of dignity, respect and acceptance by raising the level of awareness in the intellectual, psychological and behavioral society; to inspire others to implement the initiative in all regions of the Kingdom, as (Ahdan (fostering) group has been established in Dammam.
